Cliniko is a simple, well-supported clinic system for allied health practices, with a flat price per band of practitioners, unlimited admin users and locations, and telehealth. Metanoa is built around children's therapy goals, from a solo therapist starting out to a clinic running speech, OT, ABA and PT, with AI notes and parents in the loop.

Goals and session plans for pediatric therapy

Therapists pull goals from a bank filtered by discipline and turn the day's goals into a session plan. Cliniko gives you customizable treatment note templates to build your own.

Parents involved in every goal

The Family Portal shares session reports with parents, lets them comment on a specific goal and gives families with two children in therapy one login for both.

AI notes and reminders built in, from $15

AI note drafts and text reminders come with every Metanoa plan. Cliniko connects to third-party AI apps that charge separately, sends texts at $0.10 each, and starts at $45 for one practitioner.

How they compare, feature by feature

Goals and session plans

Metanoa

Therapists pull goals from a shared bank filtered by discipline, record baselines and generate a session plan from the goals they pick for that day. Because therapists in the same discipline start from the same bank, goals are worded the same way across your team.

Cliniko

Treatment notes are fully customizable, and you build your own templates (Cliniko). If goal tracking matters to your practice, ask in the demo how goals are written, tracked and shared across therapists.

AI notes

Metanoa

Dictation or jottings from a session become a SOAP, DAP, GIRP or BIRP draft, and nothing is saved until the therapist reviews and confirms it. It captures speech in languages such as Spanish, Arabic and Hindi and writes the note in your clinic's language. AI notes are included on every plan.

Cliniko

Cliniko doesn't build AI note writing into the product. Instead, it lists 34 connected apps in its AI category, such as Heidi and CliniScribe AI, which sync notes back into Cliniko. Most are made by third parties and priced separately (Cliniko).

Keeping parents in the loop

Metanoa

The Family Portal is built around the child's goals. Parents get session reports, comment on a specific goal, sign forms on their phone and see photos or moments the therapist shares. A parent with two children in therapy uses one login for both.

Cliniko

Its features page covers online bookings and text messages to clients but doesn't mention a patient or parent portal. Ask in the demo how parents would see session reports and progress.

Running a team or more than one location

Metanoa

A clinic is organized into branches and departments, with department-level access, rate plans and form libraries by department, and billing analytics broken down by department.

Cliniko

Every plan includes unlimited locations and unlimited admin and reception users, and you can see which location each staff member works at. Pricing moves in bands, so a clinic of two to five practitioners pays the same $95 a month (Cliniko pricing).

Scheduling and reminders

Metanoa

Reminders are included on every plan, families can request appointments through an online form, and it runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop.

Cliniko

The calendar offers flexible views, online bookings and repeat appointments. It sends email reminders, and text messages cost $0.10 each from prepaid credits (Cliniko). Users rate it highly for ease of use and support (Capterra).

Telehealth and insurance

Metanoa

Metanoa doesn't file insurance claims or offer telehealth. Its billing is built for families who pay directly, with each signed session priced from a rate plan and a wallet for each client.

Cliniko

Telehealth comes with every plan and unlocks once you add a payment card (Cliniko). Its site doesn't list insurance claim filing, so ask about it in the demo if you bill payers. If your practice depends on video sessions, choose Cliniko or another tool that has them.

Try it with your own goals

Set up your practice in the trial, add a few goals and invite a parent to the Family Portal.
